Genealogical Problem: We often find a nickname in an old source and need to know what formal name it represents. Or, we know the name, but wonder what possible nicknames and variant spellings might appear in an index or database.


No unique nicknames. Some nicknames are random and unrelated to the regular name of their owner. For example, White Pine Sally as a substitute for Sophia may be a one-time nickname. The nickname's origins aren't clear but one legend goes that during the 1835 Toledo War between Michigan and Ohio, Ohioans described people from Michigan as being as vicious and bloodthirsty as wolverines.


North Dakota's official nickname, the Peace Garden State, refers to the International Peace Garden on North Dakota's border with Canada. The state also has other nicknames, including the Roughrider State, a reference to Theodore Roosevelt, who famously spent time there throughout his life.


In 1912, author Jacob Platt Dunn's "Indiana Geographical Nomenclature" included city nicknames in Volume 8 of the "Indiana Magazine of History." Evansville had four: Crescent City, Pocket City, River City and Stoplight City.


"'The Pocket City,' from its location in that part of the state known as 'The Pocket,' of which it is the metropolis," is how the city was referenced in 1901 in a popular newspaper article on American city nicknames.


Finding fun nicknames for friends is a simple and playful way of getting closer to them! You can use any single given nickname (as long as it is not disabled) for however long you wish however including keeping the same name over multiple days and sessions (disconnects and reconnects).


Firstly, you will be given the choice of what rank you want to appear to have while using a nickname - from default to MVP+. For players who can use nicknames within lobbies, please note that choosing default will disable flight abilities.


There are a number of commands for our nicknames feature. These don't introduce additional functionality to the nicknames feature which isn't already available through the nicknames GUI, however, for quick changes these may sometimes be quicker.


Charles is a family name for me, and the current family Charles has monopolized a variety of nicknames: Charlie, Chaz, and Chuck. I still love Charles, though, and Arlo, Carlo, and Huck all seem like such USABLE nicknames while still sounding fresh and interesting. 2ff7e9595c
