Recommendation: We highly recommend using a tool like DriverDoc [Download DriverDoc - Product by Solvusoft] if you are inexperienced in updating Saitek Steering Wheel device drivers. Our driver update utility does all of the work by downloading and updating the correct R440 Force Feedback drivers automatically.
It is very difficult to find the respective device driver for R440 Force Feedback-related hardware because the information and support is hard to find on Saitek's site. Even for someone who is experienced at finding, downloading, and manually updating R440 Force Feedback drivers, the process can still be exceptionally tedious and extremely annoying. You can only make your problems worse if you install the wrong driver for your hardware.
Saitek R440 Steering Wheel Driver Download
There is a lot of work involved in updating device drivers, so we strongly suggest downloading and installing a driver update utility. A driver update tool ensures that you have correct driver versions for your hardware, and also creates a backup of your current drivers before making any changes. Backup drivers provide you with the comfort of knowing that if anything goes wrong, you can roll back to previous drivers.
If you are one of those freaks who is willing to get up in the middle of the night for a Formula-1 Grand Prix race then good news, you are not alone! Racing is an extraordinary event in many classes: motorcycling, carting, Formula 3000, Rally, Nascar, etc... If you are such a freak (yours truly included), chances are that you also have a mid to high-end PC on which you like to play racing games (yours truly is among them again). In fact, what I play most are F1 games. Now I've always been a keyboard man when it comes to steering until I messed around with some wheels. They come in all kinds of shapes, forms and sizes and today's review will of course be centered around a racing wheel. It's the recently renewed Saitek R440 with Force Feedback.
In this software you can check functionality, test forces of the wheel and set gain settings (forces mid-gaming). Well, we set everything maxed out and we were set to go. And this is new in the drivers: no need to calibrate the wheel anymore. It'll do that itself, you gotta love the digital era.

Saitek r440 force wheel USB\VID drivers are required for the USB bus and USB connectivity hardware in the computer to operate correctly. A "driver" is the name given to the software interface that allows the operating system to communicate with the r440 force wheel hardware, it is the software "driver" that is in control of the USB hardware. If the usb Universal Serial Bus device is not performing as expected then the driver is probably not installed or is broken. The list below consists of free downloads that are designed specifically to be used with the Saitek r440 force wheel device.
The RX 440 is the force feedback version of the 220, with the same ergonomics and pedal set. No need to go into further details on these aspects we have already discussed. This version does need a driver, which is installed with no trouble in Windows Millennium. For XP, you have to download an update ( ). Like its stable-mates, it comes with Immersion 2, so you can adjust the strength of the effects and centering in games without or without force feedback. The effects are pretty strong and well-defined, enough to be able to feel a change in surface, for instance. The wheel is fairly precise, though not in the same league as the Microsoft and MOMO. In short, this wheel has the same defects in the finish and ergonomics as its mate, but is more precise when in use. It costs $105.
The Act-Labs Force RS is still a great wheel but Act-Labs no longer sells it and only supports it by selling a few spare parts. The last official driver made was for Windows XP and does not work in Windows Vista, 7, 8, or 10. Apparently the cost of updating these drivers is too great for them to release a new official version. Fortunately there is a solution to running it on these operating systems. The Act-Labs Force RS driver was either made by or based on a communication interface by Immersion Corporation. The Saitek R440, a racing wheel made by Saitek, uses the same or nearly the same interface and has 32-bit and 64-bit drivers that work in Window Vista/7/8/10. Thanks to some work by a few people who still use the wheel, the Saitek driver has been adapted to work with the Force RS in all of the latest Windows operating systems.
KnightRacer1K also created a set of drivers based on an earlier version of Jeff's drivers. These drivers did not work for my version of the wheel but they are provided here as an alternate to try if you have trouble with Jeff's drivers.
@faithnall - Seriously, buy a better steering wheel and sell this, this wheel is even worser than mine, which did cost $80. BTW Saitek has a bad reputation of having bad support of newer operating systems and bad drivers overall (at least in my country), and they have a lot of negative reviews on their products. (I know, SaiTek is actually a branch of Mad Catz, but their products are uncomparable)
The Multiplayer mod for ETS 2 was updated to 64bit a while back and it doesn't have support for cross compatibility between 32bit and 64bit so you will therefore have to invest in a steering wheel and other equipment that support 64bit architecture if you want to play ETS 2 MP with a steering wheel. 2ff7e9595c
